In addition, some of our patients have problems with the temporomandibular joint, which can cause pain and/or headaches. This joint connects the lower jaw to the temporal bone at the side of the head, and some people feel discomfort or pain with these muscles that control jaw function. Other symptoms of include clicking sound of the jaw, limited movement of the jaw, a change in the way the upper and lower teeth fit together, headaches, earaches and dizziness. We offer splint therapy to prevent medically diagnosed migraine pain, tension-type headache, and jaw disorders without drugs or surgery. In addition, we use adjunctive BOTOX® therapy to diminish the muscle activity to help reduce clenching and grinding as well as muscle thickness.
